UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR SIMBOLIK DAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MELALUI METODE CODING UNPLUGGED PADA ANAK USIA 5 TAHUN DI PAUD AMANAH

This classroom action research aimed to examine the effectiveness of the coding unplugged method in improving symbolic thinking and problem-solving abilities of five-year-old children at PAUD Amanah, Sukasari, Karawang. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles over a two-week period involving 13 children. Data were collected through observation and documentation based on the indicators of the Early Childhood Development Achievement Standards (STPPA) in accordance with Regulation of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 137 of 2014. Pre-cycle results indicated that children were in the categories of Not Yet Developed (38.46%) and Beginning to Develop (23.08%). Following the implementation of coding unplugged, learning mastery increased to 61.54% in Cycle I and 92.30% in Cycle II, exceeding the 90% target. Improvements were reflected in children’s ability to recognize symbols, understand logical sequences of instructions, and solve problems independently, accompanied by increased concentration, motivation, and self-confidence. Challenges related to variations in attention, the need for individual guidance, and limited media were addressed through media modification, diversified games, and strengthened teacher support. The study recommends the regular implementation of coding unplugged, institutional support for facilities and teacher training, and further research involving different age groups and task complexity
